I'm a data scientist with over 12 years professional experience in data analysis, statistics, predictive modelling, and programming. Over the course of my career so far I've used a variety of technologies, ranging from common corporate solutions, to open source tools used typically at start ups. I'd be happy to share my journey, and maybe provide help in what you're facing in your own professional career. Maybe you're just starting, or thinking about pivoting - it's difficult and stressful, but it doesn't have to be. I've been through both, and maybe can be of help.

I possess multi-industry experience including consulting, eCommerce, telecommunications, technology, energy, retail and ad-tech, with my skillsets being equally relevant in other industries. I hold a PhD in Computer Science, followed by post-doctoral experience in applied machine learning. Much of my current work and interest is now focussed on contributing to the development of AI-powered products. This involves understanding product requirements and aligning them to effective applications of machine learning, operations research and statistical analysis. I oversee the entire end to end delivery of such use cases; from architecting the end to end flow to building the right data pipelines (data engineering) to productionising algorithms. Consequently, I tend to collaborate closely with Product, wider Engineering and Commercial teams.
Having started my career about 6 years ago I know that it can be hard to find the right position and understand the differences between the different role specs. Once started, there is often little support to prepare for the next career steps and decide on which topics/tools to focus. After spending about 6 years in in various startups, having started my career at one of the big 4, I want to help champions find the right path for them.
Paying it forward
Since my early days of learning the data trade I've benefited hugely from the community of link-minded people sharing their knowledge and experience, it is also obvious that the best way to learn something is to tell other people about it. I appreciate the opportunity to pay it forward and continue to learn from others.
Help new talent to choose the perfect career path and interact and exchange knowledge with others mentors
I believe that 10 years from now everyone in the corporate world would need to be data-literate, and would love to give something back to the community in these difficult times. I would like to show people what a fun and diverse field data science really is, and how they could equip themselves with data related skills to help grow their careers, or even switch into data science like myself!
Hiring, Interviews, Career
I believe talent has to be encouraged and fostered, and everyone is capable of doing amazing things with the right support. Tech, and specifically Data, has so many people just trying to find their path and struggling to understand what they need to focus on, and I have enough industry understanding to be a helping hand to many.
To help people in their personal and professional growth
I love helping others and contributing to the data community.
To share ideas within data to develop others and myself.
I've always been interested in teaching and sharing knowledge. Mentoring and teaching is something I did in Academia as a scientist and I continued in the corporate world training colleagues from different background. Teaching is something that gives me joy.
Mentoring and share of experiences it's been key for my career. I love it and want to keep doing it.
It is something I would have appreciated earlier in my career.
To help folks understand the best practices in product and analytics
Pivoting my career to Data Science was one if the hardest things I had to do. Since then I have gradually climbed into my current Lead role and would love to have the opportunity to "give something back"!
Simply because I've been through the process of changing career paths to become Data Scientist and I could help people willing to do the same especially during a crisis like the current one.
I am passionate about the field of data science and creating business impact via leveraging data and analytics. I am so passionate about inclusion and diversity in tech. I want to make it achievable for anyone who is interested or has the skills. I want to provide representation as a Nepali Woman in tech. :)
I grow up a lot with my personal mentors, I believe that we can help with others
I like to share experiences to help others progress faster and find their true passions.
My passions are multi-faceted but both involve people at the beginning of their career journey. Having spent over 20 years working in Data, I would love to see more people choosing a career in Data. I believe there is a real shortage of diversity with the Data sector and this is my way of ensuring this trend does not continue. Alongside my love of Data, I am passionate about people-centred leadership. At Ubuntu Leadership our main area of focus is to teach leadership skills to people early on in their careers, long before there is a need to lead others. This approach uses a combination of self-awareness, courage, compassion and connection.

Through understanding people, cultures, technology and systems we can begin analyzing and predicting how individuals (both consumers and staff) will act, and how to influence their behaviour. My career has been built on creating learning environments that enable the support of both people and business in order to create a meaningful human/business interface. By designing businesses that are able to learn and understand their customers, products and the way they relate to those customers and products those businesses are able to be more than successful in monetary terms alone."Culture eats strategy for breakfast" - Peter Drucker.
I would like to help people who want to get into data analytics and insight and expand my network. I am also keen on learning from other data professionals.

Due to COVID-19, a lot of people around the world lost their job. I want to help people who have lost their job or people who want to change their careers into data science. The best way of embedding knowledge is through teaching. Sharing my insights, learning and networks will help them out. I want to invest my time and energy in shaping others. The other reason, I want to give back to the community, the experience challenges that I learnt hard way in data science domain over the years. More people I help and it will give me a better sense of accomplishment. It will also give me the opportunity to meet new people. According to my belief, there is not much value in knowing things if they are not shared. When my advice is used and the mentee succeeds, that is a great moment for me.

Tech industry is ever-changing and everyone is always learning. It encourages people who got the aptitude to learn and are curious. I have built my own career by learning on the job w/o having a statistical background. This has taught me some valuable lessons and I would love to help and share my learnings with anyone who is new in the industry or making a switch to data domain, especially in a product and agile framework.
AI and Data Science are relatively new disciplines in the private sector. Finding the right role within this domain of expertise, especially in this difficult period, is a difficult task. Supporting professionals with finding their new roles is both my way to give back to the community and a way to help AI and Data Science establish as independent disciplines in the private sector.

Navigating through a career comes with challenges, and when starting, it can be hard to figure out how to overcome these challenges.
